KS3 Barcelona Trip
In March, 26 pupils from Years 8 and 9, accompanied by three staff, went on a trip to Barcelona in Spain.
The group visited several sites of historic and current interest, as well as practising their Spanish, sampling the local cuisine and enjoying the beautiful sunshine.
The main attractions visited were Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona; the Basilica of Sagrada Familia, which is Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece and a UNESCO cultural heritage site; Parc Guell, where there is more of Gaudi’s work on view; the beach and the shopping areas including Las Ramblas.
Exploring the city
The group stayed in a hotel right in the middle of Barcelona which meant it was very easy to get around on bus, on foot and also on the metro which for many was the highlight of the trip. Breakfast was taken in the hotel, but the pupils went to various cafes for lunch and dinner and tried to taste as many local specialities as possible.
The weather was superb, the locals were friendly and helpful, and everyone on the trip had a great time.
Thank you to the staff
Many thanks to Miss Dixon who organised the trip, and to Miss Cartlidge and Mrs Rogers for accompanying the group.
