Jonathan James Baroque Music Workshop
On Thursday 15th February, Jonathan James visited Trinity to deliver a workshop on the characteristics and techniques of Baroque music to Trinity's Sixth Form Music students.
Jonathan is a renowned musicologist and lecturer from Bristol. In two one-hour sessions, he took the students through some of the main principles of Baroque music and how these would sound on each of the instruments that the students play.
The students finished each workshop with an improvised performance using the techniques they had just learnt.
We are extremely grateful to Jonathan for giving up his time to visit the school and give us the benefit of his knowledge and expertise.
He was so impressed with the interest shown by our students and by their existing knowledge and skills that he has already arranged to visit Trinity again, to take them through the key points of piano music from the Romantic period.
