Year 7 Rugby Success

On Tuesday 26th April, Year 7 boys represented Nottingham City in the County Rugby Finals at Mellish Rugby Club.

Facing strong opposition from schools from all over county, the squad of 15 qualified from their group as runners-up. They made the final by beating Southwold who were other group winners and so faced a strong Brunts team from Mansfield. They had lost earlier to Brunts in the group stages and were fired up to make amends in the final.

Changeable weather condition saw the team battle bravely against driving wind and snow and also having to play up the slope. Despite their best efforts, they could not keep out Brunts as missed tackles against their strong runners proved costly. The game was much closer this time and they did have the satisfaction of scoring the last try.

Looking Forward

After so much success and coming so close in the final, the Year 7 boys are hopeful of going all the way next year.
